Changing it up

I have decided that I need a new blog layout. I'm trying to determine what type I want, if I can do it myself, do I have to pay someone to do it, or can I find a nice free one.... oh the choices and decisions are endless lol.

It's been a busy week here getting ready for Halloween and for my ALL TIME FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR - that's right folks, Christmas is right around the corner!!! But we'll discuss that momentarily. First - Halloween. We had our prenatal Halloween gathering this week and it was so much fun to see all the little ones in their costumes. From left to right - it's Morgan the horse, Rylee the kitty cat, Ethan the tiger, Nora as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Jack the dragon and Stella the piggy. We also took them to a professional photographer in town who was doing a Halloween special and we each got 2 poses and 1 group pose for $15 - I was pretty pumped about the deal.

Then yesterday - I went down to Syracuse with Christina and Tracy so we could order Christina's bridesmaids dress for the wedding. I'm pretty excited about the dresses now. :) Then we went to a Halloween party when we got back. Today we met up with a friend of my Dad's who is bringing my wedding dress back from Georgia and we did a bit of shopping - and I got my bath and body works sugar plum hand soap!! Bring on Christmas :) Tomorrow is Halloween so we will take Nora out to a few friends houses and then hand out candy.

AND THEN IT WILL BE NOVEMBER 1st!! And I can officially start decorating for Christmas. Since we already had Thanksgiving in Canada - Christmas is next on the list of holidays and I am beyond pumped for it. It will be Nora's First Christmas and the first Christmas that we actually spend in our house together since we moved to Ontario. I can not wait :)

Stars and Strollers

Stars and Strollers. The best invention for stay at home moms! Every Thursday afternoon, the bigger movie theatre in town hosts this. You have your pick of 2 newly released movies. The sound is lowered, the lights aren't completely off, no one cares if your baby cries or if you breastfeed because everyone is a mom and you get to enjoy some popcorn! I went for the first time yesterday afternoon with Tracy and her little gal Hanna. We saw the remake of Footloose with Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by it. Some remakes are horrible and this one was great. And the dancing was awesome. AND it was so nice to get out of the house for the afternoon.

Thursday morning...

So after a wonderful week of getting + 8 hours of sleep per night, Nora is back to waking up every 3-4 hours for a feeding. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, it was a glorious week lol. I keep wondering and worrying that maybe its my fault - maybe she's not getting enough milk, maybe it's something we are doing or not doing. Oh the guilt of being a parent lol.

I'm also sick right now. I went to the doctor on Wednesday to finally get checked - I have a weird rash thats all over my body, mostly on my hands. Turns out I have this weird syndrome called Gianotti-Crosti and it's caused by a viral infection. Nothing I can do about it and it only takes 2 weeks - 6 months to disappear, no biggie. It's super itchy though. So I can take Benadryl or Reactine and I have a steroid cream prescription but everything must be taken in moderation because I am still breastfeeding. My doc suggested formula feeding Nora for a week and taking a higher dose prescription to stop the itching- I will suffer through the itching thank you very much. I love breastfeeding and I love being able continue that - I'm not risking it just to "help" with the itch.

Trying to get back on schedule

Back home!  We have returned from the land of butter and fried chicken...otherwise known as Georgia lol.  This time when we went to Georgia, we were smart.  We flew out of Syracuse, it's only a 2 hour drive - same length to Ottawa from home... and it was half the price!!  We have decided that is totally the way to travel down there.  We flew with Delta Airlines and I have to admit - they were AWESOME.  I've flown a lot in my life and I've flown 3 times since Nora was born, and Delta was by far the nicest to travel with.  The flight attendants were helpful - they made sure that Paul and I sat together, they offered help when we needed it, and you still get free snacks with Delta lol.  Definitely way better than Air Canada.

Georgia itself was awesome.  Saturday the boys went golfing and the girls hung out.  We went to La Parilla for dinner and it was DELICIOUS.  And because it was my birthday dinner, they sang me Happy Birthday and made me wear a huge sombrero.  Sunday we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving and had a nice huge turkey dinner.  Monday, Paul went back home and we also went to The Tanger Outlet Mall... my favourite place :)  Bought lots of fun things - I got a new leather jacket for my birthday from Mom and Dad.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we hung out in Macon, went shopping, and really had a great time. And then on Friday - we went to the Georgia National Fair.  IT WAS AWESOME!  I had funnel cakes, an ICEE, and Cotton Candy - a true fair experience.  And Auntie Danie also won Nora a toy while we were walking down the midway.  Saturday was a sucky day - but that's because I had to come back home.  It was really nice to sleep in my own bed though lol.

Wedding Cake Fun

Well I did it.  I made Bill and Laura's wedding cake.  And it was FUN!  I'm not allowed to post any pictures on the internet until after their wedding on Saturday, I promised that I wouldn't.  It was actually a lot of fun to do and I really wish that I could do this for a job.  I'm trying to pack all of our stuff for this trip down to the Georgia house and it's so frustrating.  I am not a light packer.  I try so hard to pack light... and it just doesn't work.  Well I'm off to do laundry right now. And to try to finish packing.  UGH.

3 sleeps left

There are only 3 sleeps left until I get to see my Mom, Dad and big sister! I'm a teensy bit excited about this trip. And I get to see the Georgia House. Today has been a really nice day - although quite unproductive lol. I went for tea with "The Mommies" this morning which was really nice. I enjoy being able to get out for a little bit with Nora, and it's nice for her to socialize lol. It was nice out earlier today, thank goodness, because we walked to our tea destination. I used the Boba carrier and I must admit, I'm falling more and more in love with it every time I use it, possibly because Nora usually falls asleep instantly when she's inside of it lol. Then this afternoon a friend who was in town from Trenton stopped by to meet Nora. We visited for a bit before she had to head back home and now I'm just preparing my stuff for my CWL meeting and getting dinner ready while Nora snoozes in her swing. Paul should be home from school soon and then we can relax until Nora and I head out. Tomorrow should be a fun day - I have an arts and crafts project planned lol. AND I have to start the cake portion of my friends wedding cakes :) I'm pretty freaking pumped for it. I just hope that they turn out deliciously. I don't want her to hate them. I'm making a three tier cake - the base will be vanilla, the middle tier chocolate and the top tier vanilla. All three tiers will have a raspberry filling and dirty iced with vanilla buttercream icing. And then we will put fondant on them and ice decorations with vanilla buttercream. I'm nervous for the fondant, but I think I can do it :)

Busy busy week

We have a very busy week ahead of us. This coming weekend is Canadian thanksgiving and we are actually heading down south for it this year. Friday afternoon as soon as Paul is done school we are driving down to Syracuse and then flying to Georgia! We will then spend an action packed weekend with my sister and parents, then Paul will leave on Monday morning and I get to stay until the following Saturday. I'm pretty pumped to be seeing my family again. And I'm even more excited to finally see the Georgia house in person.

On top of this weeks trip, I also have a CWL executive meeting, a CWL meeting, I have to go into Ottawa to pick up Nora's passport, and I'm making my friend Laura's wedding cake which has to be finished and ready by Thursday night. Crazy busy lol. But it's better than being bored lol.

Nora likes snuggling in our bed at night, just for a little bit before we go to sleep. It's super cute!

Best Birthday Ever

It's amazing how your priorities can change over the years when it comes to birthday presents. 10 years ago - when I turned 19 - I wanted clothes and I wanted to go out and party with the girls. Now this year - my birthday present from Paul was being able to sleep in for an extra 2-3 hours, and he took care of Nora all day - including feeding her twice. Then he took me to David's tea to buy some loose leaf tea, which I am absolutely in love with, we got take out Pad Thai for dinner, which was unbelievably delicious. And now he's playing video games and snuggling with Nora and I'm about to head downstairs to craft. It's been an awesome birthday so far :)
