November 11

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Armistice was signed, marking the beginning on the end of World War 1 (it's official end was seven months later on June 28, 1919).  In Canada, we call this day Remembrance Day.

Being the daughter of a retired Military Officer, we have always celebrated Remembrance Day, whether it was a ceremony downtown, or in a park, at a cenotaph or a legion.  I remember celebrating when we had a posting in the US, where it's Veteran's Day not Remembrance Day.  My parents took us out of school and we went to the Canadian ceremony on the base, we wore our Girl Scout uniforms and laid wreathes.

This year, Nora learned about it at school.  She's three.  Yet she understands that sometimes, Mommies and Daddies need to go away to help make the world a better place.  She doesn't understand why some people aren't always nice.  It's hard to explain war to my 3 year old.  I don't even understand it myself.

I remember being young, and not understanding why my Dad might have to go away to fight the "bad guys", and I remember my Mom trying to explain it to me (this was during the Gulf War - when we were stationed at a US base).  I also remember exactly where I was on 9/11 and watching the second tower fall.  I know exactly where I was when I heard that two CF Members had been hit by a car in Quebec, and where I was when I heard that a soldier was shot at the War Memorial Ottawa. There are days that I don't understand what this world is coming to.  But on days like today, I remember that we are here, and we are free to write blogs, go to schools, and live normal lives because of the soldiers that go out there and put their lives on the line for us every day.

So thank you.  To all the soldiers who have served, who currently serve, who will join up, their spouses and families, and to those who didn't make it back home.  Thank you.  A million thank you's and much love to you all.

The official end of World War 1 (The Great War) was on June 28, 1919, when the armistice with Germany went into effect. The armistice was seven months earlier on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The war was regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”

Monday blues... oh wait it's Tuesday already

Ever have one of those days... between BOTH children giving me attitude today and not being able to get anything done, it has been a very frustrating and trying day for this Momma.

Let's start with Miss Annika - poor little dear is getting her molars in the back, and she is miserable because of it.  We are also hitting the "I only want Mommy phase" which, while it is nice, is also quite annoying.  Paul hates that she won't spend time with him and that she only wants me, I can't help it though, if I could hand her off to him - I totally would.  So there is very little sleep happening here.

Miss Nora goes from sweetness to sassypants in no time.  I love that she is learning in school and that she is growing and becoming her own little person.  I just wish that sometimes it wouldn't include so much sassyness or breakdowns.  She's also having a rough time with Annika needing the Mommy time and always wants to be with me now too (another sore spot for Paul).  I'm ready for this week to be done (and still no posting news, ugh).  Any chance I can fast forward to Friday night when Nora *might* have a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's??? :)

Hope your Tuesday was fabulous!

Sunday fun day

I had a great Sunday. It started off kind of questionable with a 6:30am wake up from the girls. That was not enjoyable lol. Paul made us all eggs and toast for breakfast and then we got ready for church. Now, we haven't been to church in ages. Partially because of Paul's work schedule and because I'm not a huge fan of the new priest at the base chapel. So we tried a new church today. And it was amazing. It made me realize how much I miss going to church. I definitely think we will be going there again. They even had Children's Liturgy for Nora, and she went willingly without us going with her. It was great.

Hope y'all had a great Sunday!!!

Here are my two cuties in their Sunday best!!

New Month, New Name

So I've decided to revamp the blog... I'm changing the name, changing the look... and I think I'm going to attempt to do it all by myself (I may change my mind in about 2 days lol but I'm going to try it first).  I'm really excited about the change.  I love my blog, I have neglected it lately because life has been so hectic and crazy but I really miss writing.  Here's a brief recap of life at this moment:

- Paul finished his course!! YAY!! So now we wait.  We are waiting on the rest of his course to finish up their checkrides and then we will receive our posting message.  That determines where we will move, if we move.  I'm still crossing my fingers that we get to stay here but everything we've been told so far, is indicating that we will be moving - we just don't know where.

- Nora is in Nursery School three times a week.  And it's French.  And she's doing amazing.  She's only three but she can count to ten in french, she can write her own name now, she knows all of her colours in both french and english, and she's starting to learn her alphabet in french.  I'm going to be devastated if we move away from her teacher, Miss Maurina (she is hands down the best child care worker/teacher I have ever dealt with).

- Annika is starting to potty train.  SAY WHAT?  I know, that's what I said too.  She is regularly telling us she needs to pee and will actually sit on the potty and pee.  Craziness.  She's only 18 months.  She's walking, running, climbing, starting to talk more.  And she still doesn't sleep through the night.  And I'm still nursing her because she won't stop lol.  We tried to end it and that went horribly so we will see.  Now that Paul's done his course and I don't care if he sleeps through the night anymore, we may try again lol.

- Me, well I'm still selling Jamberry, still selling Stampin' Up and still making headbands and tutu's (and to everyone who I asked for addresses from - your stuff is getting sent out shortly!!!).  Nothing is doing super well but nothing is doing horribly.  I'm kind of in a rut right now and I'm hoping that blogging again will help bring me out of it.

So there you have it!  Happy November and have a great weekend!!!
