Harvesting Kale

CURRENTLY:

Needing - my other half back home. He's away on a work trip. And Norabear misses him dearly. She's woken up every night since he's been gone crying for Daddy.

Reading - blogs. My blog reader is over 600 blogs unread right now. I just don't have time. But most of them actually interest me so I want to read them. I'm also reading The Happiness Project and I'm loving it s far.

Wearing - Skirts!!! Haven't you all heard - it's #skirtember. Two fellow bloggers, Kristen and Chantal (who I can't link to right now lol) had a challenge to wear a skirt every day in September. So far - I have worn a skirt for at least part of the day every day this month! Yay for challenges.

Picturing - a warm bubble bath with my book and no one crying for me. Maybe next week when Paul comes home but before he leaves again lol. Also picturing my long anticipated trip to see my SISTER!!! I may be a teensy but excited for this trip.

Expecting - an awesome birthday present. Only 19 shopping days left!!!

Aviva Community Fund

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aviva Community Fund for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love when companies give back to the community.  When I was still teaching at Dreams In Motion in Gananoque Ontario - they were entered into the Aviva Community Fund Competition where they had a chance of winning a large sum of money to help out the dance studio.  Now, unfortunately, we didn't win - but honestly - this is such an awesome idea.  AAviva Community Fund which is sponsored by Aviva Insurance gives money to different community ideas that are voted upon by YOU.  Well maybe not you specifically but by members of the community.  That's what I loved so much about it for Dreams - you were able to help vote them into the next round.  We made it fairly far but in the end didn't win anything, but I'm pretty sure they are applying again this year.  There is over $1,000,000 available to be given away with different prize levels (grand prizes and some $5000 prizes too!)  Ideas can be submitted until November 25, 2013.  Like I said before, Finalists are chosen based on the number of votes they receive, so if you have a great idea - tell EVERYONE you know about it and get them to vote for you :)  Also, if you have an insurance broker supporting your idea, that will increase your chances of winning.

You can help out students like the ones pictured below:

Also some of last years winners included a Skate Park, Filling a school's swimming pool, a splash pad and many others.  Seriously people - easiest way to help your community EVER!  The competition starts in 14 days!  So put your thinking caps on and spread the news.

Keep checking them out on Like Aviva Community Fund and Follow @avivacf - they post lots of cool things, and you can see when the voting starts so you can help out your community!!

Slow it down a little

So it’s already the 7th of September.  Again, like August, life is rushing by far too quickly for my liking.  Since we got home from Comox in August, we had a week at home and then we headed out to Calgary for a week to visit my in-laws.  What was supposed to be a nice, quiet, relaxing trip turned into a whirlwind of house showings.  My in-laws finally bit the bullet and purchased a new home in BC.  That meant, that the Friday after we arrived in Calgary, their home went on the market and we were in and out of the house all weekend for showings and keeping it clean.  As you all know, clean + 2 year olds don’t always mix well lol  But Nora did great, we may have messed up her sleep schedule a little bit but it wasn’t too bad.  The good news is that they did sell their house!  Yay!

In other news, Dance starts next week, for both Nora and myself!  She is taking a class called Tiny Tip Toes and I’m going back to ballet and jazz at my old studio.  CRAZY!  I’m pretty pumped for all of it though.  Nora also starts gymnastics next Wednesday too.  My little lady is getting big!!

And superfun news – I won The Life of Bon’s August Giveaway!!!  I was so excited when I got that email.  It also motivated me to start blogging again on a more regular basis lol.  AND I’m participating in Skirtember – stay tuned for more on that!  Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!  It’s sunny and hot here today and I’m LOVING it!!
