So What Wednesday

Life After I Dew
-->

Welcome to another edition of So What Wednesday hosted by Shannon over at Life After I Dew.

SO WHAT…
- if Annika has decided she hates to nap.  And sleep.  It’s awesome.  Really.  It is. But she's a happy baby so it's all good.
- if life has decided to kick things up a notch – hubby is starting to fly this week on his course, that means all schedules are OUT the window.  Frustrating for me, exciting for him.  I’m trying to remember that he is happy about all of this lol.
- if I want a tropical vacation.  We are in the middle of another cold snap here and it’s just so dang depressing.  On the up side, I will hopefully be going to Georgia soon.
- if I haven’t done anything for me lately.  Okay, well this one I’m not too happy with.  I really want to make my dayplanner.  I want to craft.  I want to make cards.  I want to go to my dance class.  Unfortunately, sometimes I do not get what I want lol. Next week should be better.
- if I don’t always love my family (whether it’s mine or Paul’s).  I’m allowed to have days where I am frustrated with people.  And it’s not fair for certain people to get mad at me for being frustrated (how’s that for cryptic? Hahaha).
- if I don’t wear normal clothes on a regular basis – yoga pants are the uniform for Moms… right??  Please back me up on this.  At least I can kind of justify the yoga pants because I was a dance teacher, right?
- if I haven’t posted in a while.  Life got busy.  And my children stopped going to bed at a normal time, which makes things very difficult.  And we started watching Doctor Who. Which leads to this one…
- if we finished season 1 and 2 of Doctor Who already… and we only started watching it on Netflix over Christmas break.  We may have become obsessed.  And really, what's wrong with a little bit of the Doctor??

Happy Wednesday!!

Dayplanner Dilemma

I love day planners. And pens. And washi tape. And stationary. One might say I have a problem with it, or an obsession lol. Now that we are into 2014 I am having a minor meltdown. I don't have a day planner for this year yet.

Last year I used this:

My beautiful Erin Condren day planner. Unfortunately, I can't justify the price this year. Or the shipping to Canada. It's $39.95 to ship it here, on top of the $50.00 that the planner costs. No way. Last year, I had it shipped to my sister and I picked it up from her when I went to visit in October. This year I just wasn't on the ball and didn't order it in time.

I was going to make my own planner using the Arc notebook system from Staples. I just can't find any pages that I really love that will fit into this size though.

So right now I'm using the cheap one from Dollarama to tide me over. I am embarking on a new journey this January. I'm going to teach myself the basics of Photoshop so I can make the planner pages that I want. Wish me luck!! And if you have any pointers, please send them my way :)

Rough Mama Day

So my children are relatively healthy and don't get sick too often. I was told by a friend (and I use that term very loosely) that the reason for that is that my children don't go to daycare. I would love to tell this person to get bent, unfortunately I can not lol. I don't think that's the reason why, we go to many different playgroups and Nora's in several activities so she is exposed to lots of germs on a regular basis.

But today was a rough Mama day because Annika is sick. We had a rough night last night where she had a bit of a fever and just wanted to be in my arms. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. On top of that Paul had his first bout ever of insomnia and was up pretty much all night. Luckily for him, there was nothing on his schedule for work this morning, so after they checked back in (they had to check in on base after Christmas holidays lol) he was able to come home and sleep for three hours. Me on the other hand, I still had the girls to take care of. But we all did nap for about an hour at the same time sky that helped.

Poor little girl just wants to be snuggled. Even now, I'm typing this in bed in my iPad with her in my arms. I just hope that tonight is a little bit better for everyone.

2 years

So this post is a few days late :)  We celebrated our two year anniversary on December 29, and we were lucky enough to have my parents and sister come to watch the girls for us so we could have an evening out.

Here's a throwback to our wedding day.  It was such a wonderful day and I loved our wedding and our reception.

We went out for dinner at The Keg Steakhouse.  It was SO delicious.  And I remembered to take pictures this time.  This was my salad - it was called an Iceberg Wedge... it was actually a Wedge.

My lovely husband with his Mixed Greens salad.  And he even smiled for me even though he was making fun of me for taking pictures specifically for this post.

My dinner - Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple Salsa and Garlic Mashed Potatoes.  It was SO delicious.  My absolute fave meal from there.

Paul's delicious meal - he had the Sirloin Oscar.  He also enjoyed it.

This is his 'seriously are you taking a picture of me??' face.

And then we went to Starbucks for an after dinner drink.  It was so relaxing and it was great to have an adult evening out.  And the girls were great for Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie Danie too.  I hope that we will be able to have another night out sometime soon.  All in all, it was a WONDERFUL anniversary and we had a great night out together.

5 on Friday

Happy Friday!! It's time to link up with DarciAprilChristina and Natasha for 5 on Friday.  I'm not sure if I've ever actually done this link up before but I wanted to give it a try because all the cool kids were doing it lol.

~1~

I've posted every day this year so far.  I love being able to say that.  It makes me feel like I've accomplished a little bit this week, even though I haven't done much else.  I feel like I'm on a good streak with blogging.  I'm doing a thing called Bite Sized Blogging on facebook and I'm trying to get more involved with it, but I really haven't done much with it this week.

~2~

It's Snowmageddon here.  I like winter, I really do.  But seriously Winterpeg, this is sucking so far this year.  We had about two weeks of frigidly cold temperatures.  It was approx -30C with a windchill of up to -50.  We were colder than the North Pole.  We were also colder than Mars at one point as well.  And today, it finally warmed up a little bit, but it's been snowing ALL day.  And by warmed up, I mean -15C lol.  And by snow, I mean almost 6 inches.  Which isn't a ton but it's enough.  Nora and Annika did have some fun out in the snow today though, so that was cute.

~3~

I am making my own planner this year.  I have not made it yet.  And I am freaking out about this.  I need my organization.  It's driving me mad, but I just haven't had time.

~4~

Speaking of not having time.  I have a very needy 8 month old.  She now SCREAMS bloody murder when I leave the room, it's kind of annoying and difficult to get things done.  She is also teething.  And has NO TEETH yet.  I just wish one tooth would pop through so she could be somewhat happy again.  Also, on that note, she's still sleeping in our room because she wakes up twice a night and sharing a room with her sister and her waking up means I have two kids awake at 3am.  SO NOT FUN.  But they are really cute so that makes up for it.

~5~

I am Nora's best best friend.  It's the cutest thing in the world.  She will come up to me now, give me a huge hug and say "Mommy, you're my best best friend, I love you".  It completely melts my heart.  I absolutely adore it.  Paul took a video of her saying it today, so I can pull it out when she's 16 and hates me lol.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!  If you need me, I'll be digging out our house tomorrow morning lol!

The Nutcracker

As part of my Christmas present this year, my parents purchased tickets for myself, Nora, my sister and my Mom to attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Nutcracker.  I was so excited that we were able to go to this together.  Danie and I used to go every year as kids.

Nora looking out the window, trying to use up some energy before the show started.

Nora and I talking about the ballet.

Nora and Grandma posing by the entrance to our seats.

Waiting patiently for the show to start, holding her new ballerina (that she suckered me into buying for her lol).

Selfie with Mommy (this is her new excited face, it totally cracks me up!)

Getting excited about the orchestra warming up.

Meeting the dancers after the ballet.  She was so pumped to see them and we even had her program autographed.  They were so friendly and so nice to her too.

Nora and Auntie Danie at intermission playing with her doll.

All in all, it was an awesome experience.  She made it through the whole two hours, and only fell asleep for the VERY LAST NUMBER.  She woke up during the curtain call and clapped for everyone and yelled yay.  It was adorable.  I can't wait to continue this tradition with her, and when Annika is old enough with her as well.

Happy New Year

Happy New Years!!! Hope all of you in blog land had a wonderful holiday. We aren't back to the real world quite yet, Paul is still on holidays until Sunday! Woohoo!!

In keeping with what seems to be the newest trend out there, instead of making resolutions, I've picked a word to be my theme for the year.

I'm super pumped for this word I'm every sense. I can't wait to create crafts. I can't wait to create more of a home. I can't wait to create a better relationship with my husband and my daughters. I can't wait to create a wonderful relationship with God. So yes, 2014 is about Creating.

I also absolutely love this quote so I made myself a little printable (thanks to the Rhonna Designs app on my iPhone) and it's now my lock screen.

And honestly, this pretty much sums up how I feel today. I love the beginning of the year - a new calendar, fresh pages, a new start. Hope you are all having a wonderful New Year thus far!!!
