Weekly Wishes

The Nectar Collective

I've decided to link up with The Nectar Collective this week for Weekly Wishes on Monday.  It's kind of like my monthly goals but hopefully this will help keep for more accountable :)

1.  Hang up bulletin board in the kitchen.  We have a lot of papers and such that get lost in the shuffle and I would like a place to hang our meal plan.

2.  Put up hanging bars in basement to hang our winter gear.  Living in the cold north (hahaha - it's not that bad but seriously summer can grace us with her presence anytime now), we have a LOT of winter gear, jackets, snowpants, toques, mittens, scarfs, boots.  I have a rubbermaid of boots, a rubbermaid of mittens, etc.  And now I need a place to hang the jackets.

3.  Finish the KayDee Crafts Facebook page.  I have a friend with a local business who wants me to become involved in giveaways but I need to have a FB page to do so.  She wants me for the July giveaway.  I need to get this done.  Also, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll see that we just rolled out our new packaging and I think it looks AWESOME :)

4.  Finish cleaning our office.  Someone has been on my case about getting it done.  The same person said that I'm spending too much time on the internet.  So I figure if I can get some schtuff done around the house while the girls nap this week, maybe said person will not be so angry about time on the internet lol.

I think those are some good goals for my first time linking up.  I don't really want to set myself up for failure on the first shot lol.  Hope y'all have a wonderful week!!  And if you're new here, thanks for stopping by!!

Resolutions and Goals - a recap :)

So April was an interesting (okay BUSY) month for us.

Let's recap the monthly goals and see how I fared:

1. Earn 400 Swagbucks - I actually earned over 600, so I was pretty stoked about that!

2. Write and follow blog plan - did not even write one.  So big F on this goal lol.

3.  Plan Annika's Birthday Party - I accomplished this.  And there will be a post coming up about this endeavor.  It was a blast, and I had SO much fun planning it.  If only I could just plan kid's birthday parties for a living...

4. Empty 1 rubbermaid in the basement - I did not accomplish this, but I did clean my crafting area.  So I was happy with myself in regards to the basement.

5. Hold Cardmaking event - I actually held two.  Only two people showed up to each one, but hey, you have to start somewhere, am I right??  And I plan to do more this month too.

6. Make gallery wall in living room - Nope.

7. Make and Mail 10 cards - sure did - although I also did Annika's baptism invitations, so that took up the majority of the 10 lol.  I made 10 different cards for my card nights though, I just haven't sent any out.  If you want a card, email me kariemakesthings@gmail.com  - I'll send you one :)

Now onto my May goals

1. Earn 500 Swagbucks.
2. Make meal plan and follow it.
3. Make blog plan and follow it.
4. Make social package for Natasha and Scott.
5. Choreograph one new dance.
6. Organize front hallway.
7. Make and mail 10 cards.

Now it's already May 7, and I will admit, I have two of these goals completed!!  I won't tell you which ones yet (as they may be included in a future blog post lol).

Happy Hump Day y'all!!!

A Dancer's Life

Ever have one of those days where you are totally reminded why you do what you do?

Yea.

That was me last night.

I went to my "old" dance studio's Mostly Modern Showcase - "Dance Go Off" last night.  It was such a great show.  But what I was most impressed with was some of the dancers.  In particular, the girls that I used to dance with when I was really young.  Most of the people in my Thursday jazz class that I take, are people I danced with when I was 15-16 years old until I stopped dancing in 2007.  Prior to that, they were in the classes ahead of me.  They are the girls that made me want to dance.

When I started dancing at Studio One, I only took ballet.  I was convinced I wanted to be a ballerina.  And had I really really wanted to, I probably could have.  I auditioned for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Division Summer School when I was 13.  I didn't end up going that summer because we were going to be gone all summer because of my Dad's work.  The following fall, I enrolled in modern, jazz, tap, ballet and musical theatre.  I still remember the dance that made me want to take modern.  Philadelphia.  It was beautiful.  And I was so in love with it.  And I was in awe of the girls in that class.  They made me want to be a better dancer.  So I pushed myself.  And I think I did a great job with that.  I ended up attending a prestigious performing arts college - one that accepts only 40 students per year.  And then because of a stupid person, I threw it all away.  And I have to admit, some days I'm really bitter about that.  But last night - after watching those girls up there on that stage, I remember why I started dancing in the first place.  The emotion that you can show on stage, the world you enter, and the way you can make an audience feel - whether you are a professional or just a once a week dance student like I am now.  I love it.  And I wouldn't change any part of my life because I think everything I've been through helps make me a more well-rounded performer.

Dance.  It's not just an exercise class once a week.  It is part of my life.  It is part of me.  And I love it.

Five On Friday

Linking up with [darci, april, christina + natasha] for Five On Friday!

One.

This week was weird. We found out that Paul's course...well for a lack of a better word, stalled. The airplanes they use to train are all in need of servicing, so he goes into work in the morning and is home again by lunch. Both a blessing and a curse as it throws off my schedule and routine with the girls.

Two.

Annika. This little lady takes all of my energy. Not only is she walking, but she's climbing too. And not sleeping. It's loads of fun lol.

Three.

The weather here is no fun right now.  Nora was outside playing today with a toque and mittens and a scarf.  It's May.  It should be sunny and warm and there should be no need for winter clothes.  On top of that, it's supposed to snow shower today.  SNOW?? So not cool.

Four.

The next month is going to be so busy for us.  I always forget how busy May is.  It's the best month ever for dance teachers and dance students though.  It's usually filled with recitals, picture days, competitions, and now that we are back in Manitoba - I can go watch the Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival.  I LOVE watching this particular competition because everyone totally brings their A-game.  I'm trying to figure out what I can justify going to see... or maybe I should go volunteer this year so I can watch for free.

Five.

Things are starting to get underway for KayDeeCrafts.  I'm super excited to be launching this new endeavor with my sister.  If anyone has babies or young girls and you would be willing to do a review for some free product - send me a message and we can work something out!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Currently

Linking up with Randalin over at Harvesting Kale and Lindsey and OT and ET for another round of Currently.  This week's words are: buying, snapping, scoring, struggling, losing

I am BUYING dance costumes right now.  My recital is 30 days away.  So I have now bought my ballet costume (which happens to be an Old Navy dress that's super cute) with matching undies from Victoria Secret and my jazz costume which was a flapper dress from PartyCity.com.  Our ballet song is Carry On by Fun  and I absolutely love it!! And our jazz dance is to A Little Party Never Killed Nobody by Fergie (from The Great Gatsby!!).

I am SNAPPING my fingers right now while practicing the above dances.  There are a lot of finger snaps in our jazz dance.  And body snaps.  And I feel SO old because these dances are killing me lol.  I even told Paul tonight that I think I need to start running so I can get my cardio endurance up (and I LOATHE running).

I am SCORING some cool stuff from Swagbucks - seriously - if you don't use it - you need to start.  I just received another $50 Paypal Gift Card.  It's awesome.  And relatively simple to do.

I am STRUGGLING with my memory.  If I don't write things down, I find it super hard to remember anything lately.  Also struggling to keep on top of housework and stampin up work and KayDeeCrafts work while dealing with two kids.  My children are crazy lol.  I am also struggling to keep up with Annika.  She now walks and climbs.  It's crazy.

I am LOSING my battle with trying to get the girls to share their bedroom.  We essentially live in a two bedroom PMQ (Private Married Quarters), because what they say is the "third" bedroom is on the main floor and we use it as a dining room (because there's no room in our kitchen for a table.).  They don't like to sleep together yet.  Annika wakes up crying and then Nora wakes up crying because Annika's crying and she doesn't understand why she's crying.  One day they will both sleep... right?

HAPPY THURSDAY Y'ALL!!
